🔥 What Most “Swing Adjustments” Fail to Correct

  • Mar 23

Tweak this, adjust that, move your hands here, “snap it”, it’s all just words if you don’t have the strength and athleticism to actually make it work

I’ve seen good swings that sat the bench in college

And I’ve seen “bad” swings make MLB

Funny how all the “swing adjustments” and “mechanics tweaks” seem to work really well on guys who are tall/strong/athletic, and not so much on guys that are short/weak/slow

This is because increasing size and strength improves EVERY hitter, because of the inherent relationship between bat speed and strength (Miyaguchi JSCR 2012): the higher the bat speed, the greater the exit velocity; and exit velocity is the single greatest determinant for BA, SLG %, and HR

Balls that are hit hard tend to do damage, while balls that are hit soft tend to find gloves, especially as the levels go up and the fielding gets better and better

What most guys are missing is not yet another hitting lesson, but the physical capacity to make the lessons they’re being taught, actually WORK!
