If you’re not a pro athlete, you probably don’t have a true “offseason” in a given year.
And while it certainly doesn’t serve an athlete well psychologically or durability wise, the reality for lower level athletes is often a year round cycle of games, practices, and tournaments
Unfortunately it’s the athletes development-what would allow them to actually rise above the average and get to the higher levels-that often falls by the wayside
The athlete gets stuck in a year round loop and unless they have talent that allows them to be better “just because”, they get stuck
The key is to find a balance. For an athlete to become the best they can be, sport skill and physical development should be worked on together, in synchronization
So what to do when out of town/at tournaments/on vacation?
We use a combination of
✅ Speed and Acceleration Work
✅ Bodyweight Exercises
✅ Hotel Gym Equipment
✅ Bands
to construct workouts that allow the athlete to keep making progress anywhere, anytime, no matter what else is going on.
Lazy athletes use their schedule as an excuse to sit around; disciplined athletes get their training done, home or away, no matter what, and keep progressing.
Everyone is “busy”
Few are effective
